In the “last days” Paul warns that people will become selfish, greedy, proud, and morally corrupt, displaying a mere “form of godliness” while denying its power, and he urges Timothy to avoid such individuals . He then reminds Timothy of the faithful example of his own life—Paul’s doctrine, perseverance, and the persecutions he endured—and warns that anyone who desires to live godly in Christ will also face suffering  Finally, Paul exhorts Timothy to remain steadfast in the Scriptures he learned from childhood, emphasizing that all Scripture is God‑inspired and useful for teaching, correcting, and equipping believers for every good work .
