Faithful Service
Often we think that we can only serve once we have grown into maturity. But the Bible’s picture is that of all believers using their gifts as a means of growing (Eph 4:11-13). The Bible teaches us that upon becoming a believer, God’s Spirit gifts each believer with at least one spiritual gift (1 Cor 12:4-7). The purpose of this gift is not boasting or personal enhancement, but for the common good (1 Cor 12:7). Therefore, as each believer is joined to a church, they must seek to strengthen and use their spiritual gift for the good of the whole body. It is most often in the exercising of your gift that you are personally strengthened and grow in maturity, while helping others grow in maturity.
We have several areas where our members can serve within our church. These include worship arts ministries, hospitality, greeting, ushering, Levite ministry, Sunday School teaching, VBS, and more. If you are not sure what your spiritual gift is, the pastors would love to sit down and help you discover your gifting so that you can grow while serving!
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-13 (ESV)
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (ESV)
