CU @ Mt. Orab

Though a little further from Cedarville than most ministry opportunities, FBC Mt. Orab provides the perfect place to find a home away from home where you can serve and be a part of what God is doing in SW Ohio. Pastor Jonathan and his wife, Tara, are both graduates of Cedarville University (’08) and were both part of a ministry team that traveled over 40 minutes from campus. They know first-hand the challenges and joys of being a part of such a team and look forward to getting to know you!

A brief sketch of our church

FBC Mt. Orab is celebrating its 66th anniversary this September. We are established in a growing community 30 minutes east of Cincinnati. Our location is strategic for being a sending hub for the gospel in SW and South Central Ohio. We currently have about 100 people in attendance on Sunday morning, with a growing children’s ministry. Our pastors preach expository messages, often working verse-by-verse through books of the Bible. We are currently just starting a study through the book of Mark. We are a warm and welcoming family with a good mix of silver saints and young families. For more information about our church, click here.

How can WE help you?

One of the greatest challenges of being away at college is the disconnect from family and home. We get it! The beauty of being an active part of a church while at college is that you are automatically welcomed into a family away from home. One of the greatest joys of serving on a ministry team for Pastor Jonathan and Tara was the home-cooked meals and the unexpected cards in their PO boxes. Our church is committed to providing lunch each Sunday, as well as some assistance with fuel (especially when team members carpool). We can also provide quiet places to rest or study during the afternoon before the evening activities begin. We desire to be a place that is not only served by you, but gets to serve you in these unique ways.

How can YOU help us?

Children’s Ministry
We always could use extra hands and loving hearts to invest in our children each Sunday. From being a Sunday School assistant to teaching our littlest kids during the service, there are plenty of places to connect with kids in our growing nursery and children’s ministry.
Student Ministry
Our Student Ministry (7th-12th grades) is quite small, but the students who come are a great bunch to hang out with! We are needing help with our Sunday Night Youth Group, to make this the best that it can possibly be. Do you like to have fun and go deep in the Word? Come alongside Tara and invest in our students before they head off to college.
Worship Ministry
Do you play and instrument or sing? Do you have a humble heart that delights in seeing God’s people worship Him with authenticity? Our philosophy of worship ministry is that of using music to disciple God’s people, facilitating corporate participation through song. We would love to have you audition to be a part of our worship team. We are particularly looking for help with percussion, guitar, or strings.
A/V Support
Do you enjoy handling the technical side of the morning and evening worship services? We are looking for additional people to train and equip for running our sound system (Behringer X32 digital board), our slides (ProPresenter 6), and our Live Stream.
Graphic Design & Website Support
Currently, Pastor Jonathan is responsible for our church’s graphic design and website maintenance, as we don’t have any members who are skilled in these areas. He would love to hand those things off to a qualified person so that he can keep his focus on prayer and ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4).
Pastoral Residency
Do you sense God’s call on your life to lead God’s flock as a pastor? Are you currently pursuing a Biblical Studies degree, but would like some hands-on experience? Pastor Jonathan, and the other elders, would be happy to have one or two men come alongside of them to gain Pastoral experience and even have some preaching opportunities.
